The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Accelerating the Development of Iran’s Tourism Ecosystem

Citing the Public Relations Office of the Khorasan Razavi Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Ali‑Mohammad Shariati‑Moghaddam highlighted Iran’s vast potential in tourism and stressed that, in many countries, tourism has evolved into a global brand by leveraging cultural, historical, and even agricultural assets.

He referenced examples such as France and Italy, where national identity and local products have formed the foundation of internationally recognized tourism brands.

“In Iran, we can follow a similar path,” he noted, “by centering our efforts around native products like saffron and traditional resources such as qanats, creating distinctive thematic tourism experiences.”

Artificial Intelligence: Illuminating the New Path of Tourism

Shariati‑Moghaddam continued by emphasizing the importance of digital tools and artificial intelligence in redefining the country’s tourism landscape.

“AI enables us to present our tourism capacities more effectively, build stronger brands, and consolidate Iran’s position in global markets,” he said.

However, he underlined that this transformation requires collaboration across the private sector, research institutions, and executive bodies.

Accordingly, the specialized commissions of the Chamber of Commerce and active sectors involved in knowledge‑based economic development have expressed readiness to address existing challenges and strengthen the infrastructure necessary for technology‑driven tourism growth.

He concluded by pointing to the broader future vision of establishing a synergistic smart‑tourism ecosystem, where technology, data, and AI play increasingly central roles.

“This approach,” he stated, “can create a significant competitive advantage for Khorasan Razavi Province, recognized for its exceptional historical, spiritual, and cultural heritage.”
