We are the cacti

of this land.

In every corner of it,

from the heat of emotion,

we have grown out of its deserts.

We are evergreen,

unyielding.

Our roots are here.

We do not wound—

we heal.

We build life with love,

make it endure.

We have a craft, a calling;

we fight for it

in an unfair battle.

Yet toward tomorrow—

in the colors of a dream—

we carry it forward, alive and moving.
